01 june 2011

Cape Canaveral, US: Endeavour's flying days are over, and its next destination is a science center in California.

Endeavour touched down on the runway a final time under the cover of darkness, just as Atlantis, the last shuttle bound for space, arrived at the launch pad for the grand finale in five weeks.

The approach took Endeavour over Polk County, where residents heard or felt the trademark sonic booms at 2:31 a.m.
The shuttle and its six-person crew landed a few hours ago at Cape Canaveral, finishing its 25th mission.
The next, and final, shuttle mission is set to begin July 8th by Atlantis.
